Security Work
Tuesday, 12 April 2005
Boredom
Mood:  caffeinated
Everyday it's the same thing. Walking around and around! Checking this and that. Working with the same persons. It's what you could call routine. If it wasn't for the control room where we dispatch alarms to a mobile department, it would be like you see it on TV.

Security in Canada is different. Security officer are not allowed to carry any type of weapons which in my opinion is fine, but I have to work with some that has the mentality that it's okay to push people around. I work at a very public site and as much as we are to perform security work violence is not tolerated.
Alot of kids on skateboards come around this building and part of the job is getting them away. These kids now a days have a real attitude and when asked to leave they seem to think it's ok to tell us where to go. Now not all the kids are like that, as a matter of fact any of the ones I've ever dealt with no problems really. The kids say " Peace" and off they go from the property. Now my partner at work seems to have the wrong attitude! Whether it's removing skateboarder, drunks, or homeless people he thinks it's okay to grab and push them around to get them to leave. Just the other week while getting some kids to leave, he thought it was okay to push one of them around. He even wrote it in his report as to what he did. As I said before that's not the way security works here. So the other night a supervisor came by and told him his performance was not acceptable and now he's all pissed off about it. Well boo hoo for him, if he don't like quit.Since he came to work at the site there has been more problems at night than before he came. It's at the point that I feel that I need to wear my protective vest at work now, only because of what he does. He may get the people to leave, but some of them do come back and are pissed off because of how he treated them, but by this time it's not him on patrol. He's in the control and I'm the one stuck having to deal with them and calm them down and half the time appoligize for my partner's actions. One of these days it's not going to work and I'm going to be hurt because of someone else.
